So, I done goof'd.
Only way to describe it. Last night, I had my final three battles, and lost each of them. The first, I'm not too offended by - it was a bad matchup... and will continue to be for a while now. The others were just stupidity on my behalf. So, my army, and then a quick summary of the three:
My army is Kraye's Mobile Strike Force, as best it can be at low points. Kraye, two hunters and a Minuteman. I'd considered bringing an Ironclad instead, but there weren't any 4 point jacks that I wanted - the Charger is too focus heavy, and the Sentinel is utterly useless until we start bringing infantry... In retrospect, not necessarily the best force ever, but I was very much aware I could not out-power my enemies, so I'd have to out-manoeuvre them.
Anyway, first off, I fought the Trollbloods, lead by Kegslayer... which should have gone quite well, but I forgot that he has the Wind Wall spell... what should have been a fun little game of 'shoot the stuff' turned into an extended bout of circling each other... Eventually, I charged, but a few bad decisions and unlucky rolls later and Kraye died to explosions.
So, next game - Khador force lead by the Butcher. Easy fight, right? yes, entirely - wrecked one of his 'jacks straight away and was doing decent damage to the latter... until I misplaced Kraye and the Butcher charged his own jack in order to make an attack. Two chops later, and Kraye was gone. Annoying, because I was literally a millimetre too close to him. But, well... if he'd clever enough to do that, he deserves it.
And, final game - Circle, lead by eKaya. Well, she upkept Shadow Pack on the first turn, so I lost my major advantage, and... well, it was downhill from there. Got Kraye a bit too close when preparing a charge, and she feat'd. Her entire battlegroup surrounded him, and because of his base size he couldn't get out... well, I managed to slam my way out of that, and chop down a Gorax to escape the latter - Ride-by-Attack is very useful with Parry - but I never managed to move far enough away to avoid the follow-up... in the end, he was clobbered to death by Woldwarden... mind, Kaya and Laris had to weaken him, so there's that.
So, yeah... I sit now in joint last place, or second last... depending on who wins between Scyrah and Menoth. So, lesson learned - If Kraye is within 15" of the enemy, I'm doing it wrong.
... Oh, and no pictures because in spite of ordering it over a week ago, my second Hunter hasn't even been shipped. So, yes... not my week. Volodanti out.
Not counting painting, here's our standing:
1st Circle Orboros
2nd Trollbloods and Protectorate of Menoth
4th Khador
5th Cygnar and Retribution of Scyrah
